A free tool · runs alongside iRacing

See why you're losing time. Lap after lap.

A free iRacing AI coach and comparison telemetry overlay. It lines up every channel of your lap against a reference and shows you what to fix before the next corner.

FlyLap overlays running in iRacing: Telemetry Compare, Next Corner Brief, AI Coach track map and Input Telemetry on a Corvette GT3 on track
[01]Multi-channel comparison01 / 04

Every channel. Every corner. Versus the bests.

We compare everything against a reference lap from Garage 61: speed, brake pressure, throttle application point, steering angle, gear, RPM, and longitudinal and lateral G.

  • Reference laps from a Garage 61 CSV export
  • Live sector delta vs reference and personal best
  • Customizable: pick which channels to show, trace heights, and distance zoom levels

[02]Structured coaching, not a chatbot02 / 04

A coach that reads your data.

The AI Coach takes your best lap plus the reference and asks an LLM (via OpenRouter) for a structured report, not a freeform chat. You get systemic findings, per-corner diagnoses, and a focus prescription that feeds straight into the in-cockpit Next Corner Brief.

It's optional and bring-your-own-key: you plug in your own OpenRouter key and the requests go from your machine straight to them. Not affiliated with OpenRouter — you pay them directly for what you use.

  • Bring your own OpenRouter key — pay only for what you use
  • Reports are JSON-structured, not freeform chat noise
  • The prescription drives the Next Corner Brief, so you act on it
AI-COACH · WHERE YOU LOSE TIMEreport
AI Coach report: a track map colouring each corner by time lost (red) or gained (green), plus systemic findings ranked by impact
AI-COACH · PER-CORNERdiagnoses
AI Coach per-corner breakdown: corner-by-corner diagnosis with mini trace graphs and concrete fixes
[03]In-cockpit · hands stay on the wheel03 / 04

Target parameters, a few hundred metres early.

From the AI analysis, we pull out the most important corners to focus on and surface them live during your laps: the brake point, target apex speed, gear, and the single thing to fix, shown just before you get there. It clears once you turn in, so it's out of the way when you need to focus.

  • Pops before each prescribed corner
  • Target apex speed, brake reference, gear, and the single coaching focus
  • Based on the AI analysis

[04]Inherited from upstream04 / 04

Throttle, brake, clutch and steering, on screen.

This project started as a fork of rah-iracing-overlay. Its input overlay (pedal bars and a steering-wheel mirror that track your real inputs) is inherited here, untouched. Thanks to its creator, Raúl Arcos, for the base the rest of this is built on.

  • Throttle, brake, clutch bars + steering-wheel mirror
[○]How it works

Three steps to get going.

STEP 01

Install

Download the installer and run it. No admin rights, no account.

STEP 02

Import a reference

Drop in a Garage 61 CSV to compare against.

STEP 03

Drive

Pick your combo and reference in the session bar; every overlay reads from there.

Optional: paste an OpenRouter key in the AI Coach settings to unlock coaching reports.

PLATFORM
Windows 10/11. iRacing with the SDK enabled.
COST
Free. The AI Coach needs your own OpenRouter key — you pay the API cost directly for usage. Not affiliated with them, and I take no margin on it.
DATA
Everything stays local. Only the AI Coach sends lap summaries to OpenRouter.
STATUS
Beta. Expect rough edges. Report issues on GitHub.
[?]FAQ
Q.What is this for?
It's for iRacing. While you drive, it compares every channel of your lap against a reference and shows where you're losing time, then an optional AI coach turns that into per-corner advice and a heads-up before each corner. Post-lap analysis without leaving the cockpit.
Q.What do I need to run it?
Windows 10 or 11, iRacing with the SDK enabled, and a reference lap (a Garage 61 CSV). That's enough for the telemetry comparison. The AI Coach is optional and needs your own OpenRouter key, which you pay for directly; I'm not affiliated with them.
Q.Is the AI Coach required?
No. The comparison overlay and input telemetry work on their own. The AI Coach is there if you want a written read on your laps, and it only runs when you add a key and ask for a report.
Q.Where does my data go?
Everything stays on your machine. The only thing that ever leaves is a short lap summary the AI Coach sends to OpenRouter, and only when you ask it for a report.
Q.Why is it free?
There's already a ton of great free tools for this sim made by passionate developers, and I learned a lot from them. This is me giving back to that community. If you'd like to support the development anyway, you can buy me a coffee. Entirely optional, and it stays free either way.
